Space Day

Check out the batch of space age pics. on the right for intergalactic fun!

The first day back after the winter break was just an extension to a vacation compared to the final frontier day we launched as “Space Day.” The classroom and studio space transformed into a space station of spacey materials for constructing space shuttles, designing parachutes, setting up miniaturized astronauts and ships in lunar sands,  painting glass planets, building dioramas of the milky way galaxy, slinging moon mud (or for some: attempts made to swim in the gooey stuff) all while spinning in orbit at about 1,300 miles an hour. To say the least: today the kids BLASTED OFF  into a space of their own! And the teachers suspended over the little earthlings to reassure no one collided with any asteroids, keeping the law of gravitation pull in tack, while spinning a constellation of projects in their direction. With a sigh of relief…it was quite the space travel, but I’m glad to be back to earth.
